Your gift is so important right now as we must raise $125,000 by December 31, 2012 so we can continue to give every patient a second chance at life. We've rescued over 500 patients this year, including Koochooloo pictured below, but our work is not done. Will YOU make a life-saving gift?
Home for the Holidays 2012 Campaign
Koochooloo is one of 7 fur seals in our hospital right now that need your help. After months of specialist care and a tricky tar removal (!) we're happy to report that this little fur ball is on the road to recovery! Watch a video of Koochooloo's tar removal and read about our fur seal patients here!
Here's how your gift helps...
- $10 = 1 yummy fish-filled meal for one pup (they need extra things like salmon oil to help them gain weight!)
- $30 = meals for 1 adult patient for 1 day
- $50 = meals for 1 pup for 1 day
- $75 = meals and meds for 1 seal or 1 sea lion pup for 1 day
With your support, our Home for the Holidays Fundraising Challenge helps us give animals, like Ridgie the sea lion and Koochooloo the northern fur seal, a second chance at life. Please give what you can.
Barely able to lift his head, Ridgie was very sick when a group of volunteers, led by Phil Warren (board member and stranding volunteer), rescued him from a beach in Bodega Bay. Lethargic and malnourished, this young California sea lion was quickly transported back to our hospital in Sausalito where our veterinarians and animal care volunteers immediately began to rehydrate him. Blood tests indicated that Ridgie was suffering from renal disease - his kidneys were damaged from a bacterial infection called Leptospirosis. But after a few weeks of aggressive treatment and rest at our hospital, Ridgie was deemed healthy enough to go back to the wild. Read his full story here...
