Externship Opportunities

2013 VETERINARY SCIENCE EXTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The veterinary externship program is only open to students who will be in their third or fourth year of veterinary studies at the time of their stay at The Marine Mammal Center.

Resumes/applications for externships are due by February 1st, ONE year prior to the planned externship. For example, applications for the spring/summer of 2013 are due by February 1, 2012.

The 2012 externships are already scheduled.

Applications should include a letter of intent, curriculum vitae (resume), and two letters of recommendation. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Students will be notified of their acceptance into the program by the end of March, one year prior to the planned externship. Externships are unpaid positions.

Externships are scheduled for three-week periods between March 1st and September 15th of each year. Students should plan to spend a full three weeks at the Center. Shared housing is available at no cost in the Center's Extern Housing Unit located within the Marin Headlands. Transportation is the extern's responsibility, and unfortunately there is no public transportation to the Center. Priority for assignment to the best time slots is according to rank during the selection process. Please submit application materials to the contact listed below.

Hard copies of completed resumes, letters of intent (cover letters), and letters of recommendation should be sent to:
