Dawn and Discovery Education Launch the Junior Wildlife Champions program! 

Ellie Gustafson of Maryland heard about our “Dollar-a-Pound” campaign in 2009 and began holding bake sales and created her own fundraising page to raise money to buy fish for our patients! That year, Ellie raised over $800 – purchasing over 800 pounds of fish for the Center’s patients! But she didn't stop there: in total, she has raised a whopping $5,000! And to top it off, she's a Dawn Everyday Wildlife Champion!

The goal of the Junior Wildife Champions program is to inpsire 1 million children in grades 3-5 about the importance of helping to preserve wildlife and to encourage them to get involved in their own ways. Through free lesson plans found on the Discovery Education website, both parents and teachers now have a fantastic resource they can use to teach children about conservation and how they can make a difference for all marine life. The Marine Mammal Center, and the International Bird Rescue Research Center have partnered with Dawn and Discovery Education in this fantastic endeavor. Read more about Junior Wildlife Champions and become one today!
