The Marine Mammal Center, a non-profit organization and equal opportunity employer, is seeking an experienced instructor to teach outreach programs at schools throughout the San Francisco Bay Area with the Whale Bus™. The Instructor will drive as much as 2-4 hours a day. Other duties include: updating program materials, developing pre/post trip activities, training AmeriCorps volunteers to assist and teaching programs at the Center. During the school year the work week is Monday - Friday with occasional weekend days. The summer schedule may include a regular weekend day. Early mornings are required.
Job Requirements:
- Experience teaching pre k, elementary and high school age children
- Previous experience as an "outreach instructor" a plus
- Upbeat and engaging personality
- Experience developing activities and curriculum for school groups
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Good driving record
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.

The Center is seeking applicants for a PUBLIC RELATIONS COORDINATOR.
This position will report to the Communications Manager and is responsible for assisting to manage the Center's visibility to the public, volunteers, staff and board members, as well as our 30,000 members, through public relations and advertising activities. These activities include writing content for the following: press releases, the Center's physical newsletter Release, and a monthly e-newsletter, responding to media inquiries, and providing content for the website. In addition, the Public Relations Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining media clippings and reports, maintain the photo and video library, and will work on special projects as assigned by the Communications Manager. A working knowledge of HTML and web page building techniques are a plus. Experience working with digital and online multimedia such as video and photo editing, and social media are a plus.
Requirements: 1-2 years working in either a public relations or newsroom environment. Must have solid writing skills, be detailed oriented, be a team person, and have a desire and passion about marine mammals and the ocean environment.
This is a temporary 24 hour a week position with no health benefits but does include vacation and sick leave accrual plus paid holidays.
