Bekah Lane
Bekah Lane is responsible for managing administrative and programmatic tasks, including training, the Learning Management System and cetacean research. Bekah has been with the Center since 2019, starting with the Cetacean Field Research team and then assisting the Volunteer Engagement team. She is currently finishing her master's degree in interdisciplinary marine and estuarine sciences (expected in early 2022).
Bekah created a ship strike risk analysis for humpback whales, which is designed to inform management for vessel traffic in San Francisco Bay. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, she also created a theodolite tracking program for humpback and gray whales in San Francisco Bay, which involved the training, support and coordination of more than 40 volunteers. When Bekah isn’t watching whales, she loves to spend the day hiking, running or reading, with her dog, Riley, by her side.
