b'EDUCATION One of three areas of focus in our mission to advance global ocean conservationThe Marine Mammal Center leads as a teaching hospital by training veterinary professionals locally and internationally, and inspiring future ocean stewards through innovative school and public education programs.Highlights of our education impacts from October 2021to September 2022, made possible by your support:Inspired more than 4,500 middle-school students in California and Hawaii through our conservation education programs, led by our award-winning educators, that promote oceanEngaged more than 17,600 adults and children, stewardship and marine science engagement. including school groups, in marine mammal science, conservation and actions they can take to protect our ocean at our renovated Visitor Center that reopened to the public in June 2022. Expanded the global network of highly qualified professionals in the field of marine mammal health, medicine and conservation by sharing our knowledge and expertise with 47 emerging veterinary medicine professionals and marine scientists through our onsite Teaching Hospital as well as 65 students through lectures and guest workshops. These learning experiences enable participants to gain unique crucial medical skills and the opportunity to contribute to their career growth, including publishing research and passing board exams.
