Howard Caro, a lawyer and executive in the venture capital industry, joined the board of The Marine Mammal Center in 2021. Originally from South Africa, Howard has lived in the Bay Area since 1998. Howard and his wife, Shannon Atlas, raised their two daughters in San Francisco.
Howard received his B.A. from Stanford University and his law degree from Columbia University; following a clerkship, Howard hastened back to the West Coast, where the weather is clement and the water swimmable. An avid cyclist, scuba diver, reader, traveler and a self-styled gourmand, Howard previously served as a trustee and board chair at a San Francisco K-8 independent school.
