Mariah Tengler, M.S.
I am passionate about inspiring people to create positive change for the ocean and the animals that call it home.
Mariah Tengler joined The Marine Mammal Center staff in February 2020. As the Research Data Coordinator, she plays a vital role working across multiple programs to promote collaborative research and data sharing efforts as well as maintain data integrity within the Center’s animal stranding and medical record system. She also manages specimen and data requests from internal and external researchers, educators, and other requesters from all over the world.
Prior to joining the Center, Mariah spent four years as a research technician and animal care specialist/trainer at the Pinniped Cognition and Sensory Systems Lab at UC Santa Cruz.
Mariah earned her master’s degree in biology from University of San Francisco, where she studied the physiological development of locomotor muscle in ringed, bearded and spotted seals.
In her free time, Mariah enjoys scuba diving, hiking and travelling the world.
