Be a Marine Mammal Hero

Hungry pups like elephant seal Davey are pouring through our doors. Yes, we are in the swing of pupping season, and that’s why your help is urgently needed.

What if I told you there’s a simple way you can have double the impact for good?

Today, your gift will help provide what a pup like Davey needs: double the fish meals to regain his strength for a second chance at life. How? Because your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000 when you give by Sunday, June 1.

Double my impact!

Response Dispatcher

In his role as Response Dispatcher, Mike answers calls to our California rescue hotline, coordinating the appropriate responses in our northern range, and empowering and supporting teams at our field offices in their response work.

Mike has worked as a water and climate science writer for the last six years and as a Friday Night Topside Crew volunteer for the last five years. He brings a wealth of environmental knowledge and public communication experience to the Field Operations & Response department.

When not working, Mike is trying to get outside as soon as possible, where he can be seen flopping along underwater in scuba gear, stumbling around above water while sailing in San Francisco Bay, flailing about above ground on various rock formations and gesticulating wildly while photographing elephant seals at Piedras Blancas.
