Sharon Rose, MPH

Director, Major Gifts

Sharon joined The Marine Mammal Center in 2025 to lead its major gifts fundraising program. She brings more than two decades of nonprofit leadership experience, with deep expertise in fundraising, strategic planning, and program management, and a passion for connecting people to opportunities that protect our natural world.

Prior to joining the Center, Sharon was Associate Director of Donor Engagement at Stand.earth, where she built the organization's first major gifts program in support of forest conservation and climate advocacy campaigns. Before that, she served as Development Officer for the International Women's Health Coalition in New York, launching the organization's first philanthropy program on the West Coast in support of its work promoting the sexual and reproductive rights and health of women and young people around the world.

Sharon also spent eight years at the University of California, San Francisco, where she mobilized resources and launched innovative global health programs in Malawi, Mexico, and Haiti.

She holds a bachelor's degree in political science and Latin American studies from Barnard College and a master's degree in public health from San Francisco State University.
