Sea Lion Irving Rescued on a San Francisco Street

California sea lion Irving was stranded in San Francisco. Thanks to our partners and people like you, he was rescued and brought to our hospital. Irving is now receiving expert medical care needed to recover.

Stephanie Ladeira joined The Marine Mammal Center in October 2023. She is deeply passionate about ocean conservation and marine mammal rehabilitation and has followed the Center’s work for over 15 years. She is an accomplished leader with a passion for ensuring stakeholders experience a deep connection with the organizations where they invest.

Prior to joining the Center, Stephanie served as the Chief of Philanthropy at Humane Society Silicon Valley in California for 16+ years and worked in the International NGO sector in reproductive healthcare. Stephanie has over 20 years of experience in nonprofit philanthropy, where she successfully led several major gift campaigns, including a building campaign for the first Animal Community Center in the United States and the first Comprehensive Campaign in the animal welfare industry within the U.S.

Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina and is a Center for Excellence in Nonprofits graduate with a certificate in Nonprofit Leadership. Prior to working in nonprofits, Stephanie worked in the for-profit sector in sales and marketing, and event management. 

Stephanie lives with her lovely husband and three dogs, and divides her time between the San Francisco Bay Area and Blue Ruby Farm in the Northwest Sierra Foothills.
