Welcome to Whale Smart!
Whale Smart is a collaborative effort led by the San Francisco Harbor Safety Committee’s Marine Mammals Subcommittee, with participation from over a dozen premier organizations focused on vessel operations and whale research in San Francisco Bay.
What makes Whale Smart so powerful is the cross-sector partnership and shared understanding that protecting whales and maintaining navigational safety are complementary goals. Together, partners work to reduce the risk of vessel strikes while supporting safe, efficient maritime operations.
